Kenya Stands it's Ground

The Kenyan government is facing criticism for its decision to allow wanted war-criminal, Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, to attend the celebration inaugurating it's new constitution.   One reason that Kenya cites for this decision is the importance of maintaining a good relationship with its northern neighbor.

But that is not the only reason that Kenya has refused to cooperate with the UN sanctioned arrest of al-Bashir.  Kenyans, like other Africans (and South Americans, too), seem to be waking up to the manipulation, and selective prosecution, evident in the recent actions (or inaction's) of the International Criminal Court.

African Union representative Alfred Mutua made a bold statement worth noting:

"'We need to change our thinking from neo-colonialism,' he said. 'The West cares about themselves first. We also need to care about ourselves first.'" (Kenya pushes back over war crimes suspect's visit)

I think that it would be wise of the US and its allies at the UN to do a little waking up of their own.  Always accusing others, while never reflecting on one's own inequities, leads to major issues when the "others" realize what is going on.
